Dr. John and Rickie Lee Jones: "Making Whoopee"

It seemed such a shame to have to lip-synch anything with these two performers.  But such are the dollar limitations of music video. Still, I was greatly looking forward to meeting Dr. John who was a musical legend. (In fact, when I was doing the research for the the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame exhibit "The Best of Rock n Roll and The Movies", I wanted to use Dr. John's performance in "The Last Waltz" as the excerpt from that film, it was that wonderful.  In the end, though, the mega-star closing line-up that included Dylan, the Band, Neil Young, etc. was inevitable.) There's still a great charm to the video, though, no particular thanks to me. Rickie is coy and vamping, flirting with the Doctor. And Dr. John is wonderful, strutting across the high-gloss black floor to walk arm in arm with Rickie out the studio door. The song, deservedly, won a Grammy for best duet.
