Rickie Lee Jones - "Coolsville" 1978

My second film (after Leon Redbone) that continued to explore scripts based on the writing strengths of the songwriter. Rickie had, it turned out, both strengths as a writer as well as tremendous array of characters, including her own. (I was helped with the script by Richard DiLello). The film - twelve minutes long- received a lot of attention. I was told it was responsible, at least in part, for getting Rickie her slot on Saturday Night Live. It got me a deal with Paramount. I would work successfully with Rickie numerous times after this, including photographically ("The Magazine") and in a full length film "Naked Songs."
