The thing about Charlie Watts is that everyone seems to like him. I know this is in part because he has consistently deflated the adulation that everyone wished to heap on the Rolling Stones. This is not typical. I took this shot on a visit to his home in Sussex.
I've always liked this photo more, apparently, than other folks who seem to glance at it. I like Mick working the crowd. I am intrigued by the goofiness of the two security guards who, despite their looks, were deadly serious. I refer to them on occasion as "hush puppy security."
After I invited my father to see the Rolling Stones in Oakland, I asked him what he thought of the show. He said, "That BB King is a great showman." He was right, of course. I like this shot because it is unlike any other I've ever seen of BB.
